Michael Waltrip is a two-time Daytona 500 champion and perhaps NASCAR sponsor’s best pitchman, one who seldom misses an opportunity to infuse humor into a plug for anything from auto parts to pizza for companies supporting his efforts.
In addition to winning “The Great American Race” in 2001 and 2003, Waltrip has taken checkered flags at Daytona International Speedway’s July Fourth celebration and Talladega Superspeedway while driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc. Those four victories are the jewels of his 23-year career in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.
Waltrip is the younger brother of NEXTEL Cup Series champion Darrell Waltrip and the owner of Michael Waltrip Racing, which fields Toyotas sponsored by UPS, NAPA Auto Parts and Burger King in the NEXTEL Cup Series and the Aaron’s Dream Machine in the NASCAR Busch Series.
